There are usually two intakes of ALL per year.
Most schools have 1 place allocated by the Ministry for 2 attendees. However some schools have 2 places allocated where they may have 4 attendees.
Year 1 schools have 4 days – an Evaluation/Self Review Day followed by 2 Planning Days and an Impact/Refocus day at the end of the intervention.
Year 2 and 3 schools have 3 days – Evaluation/Self Review and Planning days and an Impact/Refocus day at the end of the intervention.

Review of strengths and needs, student achievement data, selection of teachers and student, overview of expectations and system supports.

Day 2 – Planning Day
Planning the intervention, focusing on identifying key levers for improved literacy teaching and learning based on what we now know that works. Preparing for the 15-week intervention. The teachers are supported by a school based inquiry team and an external mentor.
Day 3 – Impact/Refocus Day
Impact and Refocus. An opportunity to review and reflect on your intervention, deliver your findings and refocus for the future.

Preparing for the 15-week intervention. Teachers provide supplementary support for a small group of students who are below or well below the standard in reading or writing. The teachers are supported by the SIT and mentor to inquire into their practice.

Impact and Refocus. Review, reflection, reporting and forward planning.
