Björn Klinge

Professor Björn Klinge received his DDS degree and his PhD/Odont dr degree in Odontology from Lund University in Malmö, Sweden. He is Senior Professor of Periodontology at the Faculty of Odontology, Malmö University and at the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. He has been Dean at the Faculty of Odontology at Karolinska Institutet and at Malmö University. He is a licensed Specialist in Periodontology and Scientific Advisor for the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare. He is President of the Scandinavian Society of Periodontology, Board Member and past President of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) and past President of the Swedish Periodontal Society. Professor Klinge is Honorary Fellow at the Singapore Dental Hospital, Honorary Professor at Ji-Lin University in China and honorary member of the Swedish Periodontal Society. His research interest and related publications (PubMed) has mainly focused on the oral-systemic link, peri-implantitis and computer guided implant surgery. He has lectured internationally in more than 30 countries. 
        
 

Giovanni E. Salvi

Prof. Dr.  Giovanni E. Salvi received his license in dental medicine in 1988 from the medical faculty of the University of Bern, Switzerland. In 1990 he received his „Dr. med. dent" degree. Between 1992 and 1994 he was a graduate student in the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Bern, Switzerland. From 1994 to 1997 he was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC, USA. In 1998 he became a board certified periodontist. He has been since 1999 a fellow of the International Team of Implantology (ITI). In 2005 he was appointed teacher of the year in the School of Dental Medicine, Bern, Switzerland. Since 2003 he is a member of the editorial board of Journal of Clinical Periodontology and Clinical Oral Implants Research. In 2006 he was appointed Associate Editor of Clinical Oral Implants Research. In 2010 he was promoted to associate professor. In 2012 he was awarded the honorary membership of the German Society of Periodontology (DGP). He is currently the vice chairman and graduate program director in the department of periodontology at the University of Bern, Switzerland.
        
 

Jeanie Suvan

Jeanie attained her Dental Hygiene qualification at the University of Alberta, Canada, then furthered her education at the University of Calgary in Applied Science. Following her work in clinical practice and teaching in Canada, she moved to Europe to join the Department of Periodontology at the University of Berne, Switzerland continuing patient care, teaching and research activities.  Over the past 15 years, she has been involved in patient care, teaching and clinical research at UCL Eastman Dental Institute in various areas of periodontology.  During this time she has also completed an MSc Degree from the University of Oxford in Evidence Based Healthcare followed by a PhD in Clinical Dentistry at UCL focused on the association between obesity and periodontitis. She has many years experience as a dental hygienist in posts ranging from general practice, periodontal practice, public health, international teaching, practice consultancy, and research.  She is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Dental Hygiene as well as an editorial board member of additional journals.
