Concurrent Session 1b: Surfing the silver tsunami

Dr Willem Landman

Willem Landman is the EM Clinical Director for the two EDs of Waitemata District Health Board. The average life expectancy for WDHB is 84 years old and a third of presentations to North Shore Hospital ED are older adults.

Willem holds interests in systems architecture and design, flow processes, knowledge translation, change management and the realising of human potential. Older adult emergency medicine offers him both a clinical challenge in managing the individual patient, and a systems challenge in managing the growing numbers and case complexity of our ageing population. Willem seeks to be part of the solution to these challenges before his time of need.
